The EDVMC

The ELSA Germany Administrative Law Moot Court (EDVMC) is being held since 2017. As fictional parties to the case, students in teams of two have the opportunity to experience a simulated court hearing in administrative law and gain practical insight into this field of law.

The EDVMC begins with a written phase, where the teams each draft a statement of claim and a response to the statement of claim from another team. In collaboration with DOMBERT Rechtsanwälte in Potsdam, a Pre-Moot is held to provide the teams with the chance to participate in an oral hearing before the final participants are announced.

The four highest-scoring teams are then given the unique opportunity to argue the case before real judges at a German administrative court – alternating between Higher Administrative Courts (OVGs) and the Federal Administrative Court (BVerwG).

Benefits

Unique experience in the field of administrative law

The ELSA Germany Administrative Law Moot Court is the only nationwide administrative law moot court. Thereby, participants are provided with the unique opportunity to experience how administrative law works in real life while still at university.

Costs

For participation in the Pre-Moot in Potsdam, all costs for accommodation, travel etc. are being covered. Additional compensation can also be requested for participation in the final round.

Feedback from real Judges

Finalists recieve feedback on their performances from sitting (federal) administrative judges and can improve not only their legal knowledge but also their presentation skills.
